Most of what I sell is Made to Order. In other words, it doesn’t exist until you pay for it. Then I make it. Now and then I go overboard and make more than one. For instance I got an order for a green 44″ dragon tail, and somehow ended up making three of them, each a different shade of green. The buyer picked his favorite, leaving behind two perfectly good greed dragon tails behind. If you’re running late, and want a tail, I’m more than willing to ship it to you today. But only if it’s one of the ones I have on hand right now.

Here’s what I could send you right now:

Ghost Sheets, of course. These are kind of meant for the last minute shopper. If I don’t have one, I can generally make one fast enough to not be a problem, assuming I have enough sheets. At the moment, I do.

Dragon Tails:
44″ green (x2)
44″ brown
44″ white
33″ green (x2)
33″ brown
33″ white
22″ blue (one dark and one light)

Random rat tails, including one umbra pink to gray.

An experimental snake tail. The sucker is 6″ in diameter at the attachment and about 30″ long

A couple of fabulous Wicked Capes that are too dark for ash and too mottled/light for charcoal. They are fantastic, though, so by all means ask. Both size regular. I also have a couple of extra tall Wicked Capes is ash.

A Desert Robe in black with long sleeves. The last of it’s kind. When it sells, there will be no more.

All three of the Wild Capes in the Wild Cape listing’s pictures.

Contest Ends Nov. 1st

Surgery Sucessful

Cris is still alive. She has returned from the hospital, but is not yet ready to fire up her sewing machine. If you need a poet shirt, we have a few pre-made. Check our listings on Etsy.

Laying Low

Cris is going in for surgery on Monday. The doctors tell her she should expect to be on heavy duty pain killers for two or three weeks and physical therapy for a few months. In that time she is not to use heavy machinery. Does a sewing machine count? Apparently so.

Expect significant delays on all made to order or custom work until April. Also, conversations between Monday and the end of February might be a little odd. Please double check with her if something doesn’t make sense.

While she’s recovering, Kate will be shipping orders and folding cranes. Bottled crane, jewelry, and pre-made orders should ship at normal speeds.

We will not be running any new contests in February. Please check back with us in March. Hopefully Cris will not give away anything too extravagant.

Win a Long Scarf

drwhoscarfww
The Prizes: One loooooong scarf is the grand prize. Dr. Who first aired in November of 1963. This is not that scarf, but it came about in a similarly haphazard way. It is 194 inches long.

Additional winners may receive a free screensaver pack, or a pair of origami crane earrings.

To Enter the contest: Find the image of the treasure chest. Each shop linked to in the Giveaway Tools form will have the image hidden among their listings. Paste the link for the specific listing into the Giveaway Tools form.

tchest4b

The image will always be among the listings on the page that opens up. You will not need to look through an entire shop. Of course, nothing says you can’t enjoy a little window shopping when you discover a shop that appeals to you.

The shops included will change from day to day. The treasure chests will move within shops at the shop owner’s convenience. As a result, you can come here to play each day until the end.

End Date: December 18th 2016

Cross Stitch the Line’s Words

Cross Stitch the Line has been featured here before. It’s a shop filled with downloadable cross stitch designs that range from very modern to folksy. Graciela Gacek brings her sense of humor along with her modernly traditional sensibilities with designs she creates from scratch.

This time we are going to focus on only one category of her shop. Out of the 246 designs now available, 50 of them are in her Words, wise or otherwise section. This is a where her quirky sense of humor gets the most play.

With a work-oriented view, many of her samplers would fit in well at the office. Others are perfect for an erudite household. Whether simple and elegant or just fun, they get the message across.

There are many other new designs in her shop now. too. If you haven’t been by in a while, it’s well worth a look.

If you work fast and buy now, you might be able to finish one in time for Christmas.

I’m Back!

I got inundated with orders in October. My dye pot broke twice; and I’ve had to change the way I do things several times. It has taken me this long to get caught up.

I’ll have the next contest ready to go in a few days. It’s new ground for me, so it’s taking a bit longer. All I’ll say about it now is that this will be important:

Thanks for your patience.

Cottage Coppicing

ccope-cuttingboards
Cottage Coppicing has the kind of woodsy stuff that makes me feel right at home. From whistles with the bark still on – which happen to be very affordably priced – to cutting boards and crayons. You can even get pre-sliced slabs of wood great for your crafting projects.

All of the wood for this shop is either the result of carefully managed woods in her UK home lands using the coppicing technique, or reclaimed from building. Often Lisa can tell you where the wood from a particular item came from, right down to pointing out the tree.

ccope-trug

Her work has the rich simplicity of Shaker furniture. The natural beauty of wood grains are brought out perfectly. Yet every item has a practical use. It’s all wonderful stuff.

ccope-whistle

It tends to run seasonally. In Winter she will cut. in Summer she will create. She doesn’t charge anyone for her coppicing services, and the prices in her shop are very low. Her focus is on producing habitat for woodland creatures as well as creating beautiful items.

The seasonal nature means she doesn’t always have a steady supply. For instance, she’s low on crayons right now, but expects to have plenty in November. She recently finished a number of trugs. Better snap them up now before someone gets them ahead of you.

She learned her craft – both the creation of wonderful products and the techniques for keeping a forest healthy, on her father’s knee. It’s a fine tradition.

If you have questions, Lisa is eager to answer them. She can be be found at

as well as on Etsy at Cottage Cappicing.

Final Super Hearts Treasury

sh-16-10-final

We have just enough time to launch one last Super Hearts Treasury before Etsy takes away the ability to make or change treasuries.

I still think treasuries can be a valuable tool for sellers. It is with regret that I see this feature come to an end. The announcement for it arrived well after I had already launched the September treasury and told everyone in the APC team that I would gladly include those who supported it in the next.

In honor of the fact this will be the last, I put our team captain in the first slot. Surprise, Sandra! I hope you enjoy whatever sales I can bring your way.

Sandra has supported me in everything I have wanted to do in the APC Team. She raised me to leader when I helped keep count for the hundred hearts threads. Since then she’s let me run a number of treasury games, start and run the fifty hearts threads and put up with the odd way I handle the Post Anything thread. She’s let me try out all kinds of off the wall ideas. Actually, she kind of lets me run wild. I love it.

Under Sandra’s leadership, and during the time I have been a leader there, the A Promotion Commotion team has grown from barely over a thousand members to over nine thousand. Go team!

Next I put our Shop of the Month shop – Cottage Coppicing It seemed fitting.

I thought I might have to include a number of shops who were in last month’s Super Hearts Treasury because there were much fewer comments. Instead, I had no problem finding good people, and placing them in the treasury in the order of their support for the September treasury.

If we must go out, this seems like a good way to do it.
