November Super Hearts – How it was made

Please forgive the radio silence here for the last few days. November has been one intense month for me. For instance, I spent this morning trying to get my house heated. Normally it wouldn’t be such a big deal this time of year, but we’ve had highs in the teens lately. The furnace repair guy was surly, and complained of twelve hour days, but let us claim the one year warranty, even though we were a few days over.

Well, enough about me. You’re probably wondering about the November Super Hearts Treasury. I’ll tell you one thing right off. This treasury is doing so well specifically because there are wonderful people in it who are helping me promote it. Their support this month has gone beyond what help I got in previous months.

The thing about the Super Hearts is that it pretty much is guaranteed to have wonderful people in it. That’s because the kind of people who follow the rules, and thus qualify, also tend to be generous. I am so pleased to be able to do something for them.

There were a few people I passed over this time who qualified. Frankly, it was kind of random. I’m still working on a first come first served basis, for the most part, but I really don’t want to let this monthly treasury turn into an old boys club. That’s a challenge when the same people who worked so hard in the Hundred Hearts and Treasured Treasury threads last month are still at it this month. No surprise, of course.

So what I did was cull through for new names, and put them first. I always start with Treasured Treasuries. Right now it’s the quickest and easiest way to get into the Super Hearts. Of the eight slots reserved for Treasured Treasuries, only four were filled by them. There was one more who qualified, but I’ve put her in Super Hearts before, so I let it slide this time. I’m assuming she’ll keep being wonderful so I can include her next month.

I had to go through eight of the Hundred Hearts threads to fill the remaining twelve slots. Many of these threads had no notice that they would be considered. I plugged shops into slots as I found them, one straight after another. Toward the end when I was running out of time I got desperate and started tossing in previous Super Hearts people. I’d already skipped a bunch and I wasn’t being real particular now. For that I must apologize to some of our members. I still love you and will still include you in future months. It wasn’t anything personal at all.

Then I realized that all four of the top slots were from Treasured Treasuries, which wasn’t fair. The First slot was guaranteed, because I reserved it for the person who clearly was the most active and supportive. The rest I kind of tossed around between the first and second row willy-nilly and hoped for the best. Did I mention that on top of all this treasury stuff I’m also writing a book for National Novel Writing Month and working as an election judge? I did my best.

As to my process, my first step is to check if the person who posts “done” in the Hundred Hearts left a comment in last month’s treasury. If not, I move on right then. There were so many of our active members who didn’t bother to comment. I pains me to have to pass over them, but I have to assume they don’t want to be in the current treasury if they don’t comment in the previous month.

My second step is to go into their favorites list and run searches for items that I can be fairly sure weren’t promoted heavily in a lot of teams. It’s a ten -item spot check using things from all through the thread. Miss even one and you’re out and I’m off the check the next person who says “done”.

Don’t worry. If you missed a chance one time. I’ll keep giving you chances. If you commented on the previous month’s treasury, I’ll check every time you participate. But if I can’t find any case where you favored something from the thread you participated in, I’m going to start looking into whether or not you belong on the Rogues List.

Once again, I’d like to say a hearty thanks to those who hearted one of my pages. Notice how I went over and hearted you back? I love it, but if you want in the Super Hearts you still have to follow the rules.

Still with me? Go and comment in the November treasury now! https://www.etsy.com/treasury/NDMxNzEzNzR8MjcyNzAxMzYzNg/november-super-hearts?ref=pr_treasury Then participate in an open and honest way in A Promotion Commotion threads. It’s the only way to get in.

Also, I am committed to this treasury because I’m a little idealistic. I’m never going to charge money for slots. This treasury is intended to be a service to those who play fair.

Got an opinion on any of this? Leave a comment! I’ll reply as soon as I get a chance.
