The Next Treasury Game

We’re going to do an 8+8. That means you make a treasury using 8 of the shops to sign up in the thread, and 8 from anywhere else, including the theme threads in A Promotion Commotion.

In fact, I might launch it today.

Update on October Super Hearts Treasury

The addition of the requirement that people support the previous treasury did indeed cause problems. You’d think out of a hundred people I would be able to find 16 who would both favor everything in the Hundred Heart’s thread AND leave a comment in the September treasury. But noooooo. I found four.

I found four more from the Treasured Treasury threads. The Treasured Treasury people have it a lot easier because it’s almost impossible for me to prove that they actually did the kinds of support they claim they did. All I could go by was comments in the Super Hearts treasury – which was automatic if they followed the Treasured Treasury rules.

There were six or seven people who left a comment where they were supposed to, but didn’t pass the spot check for hearting everything in the Hundred Hearts thread. Mostly they tended to avoid the skull guitar pick necklace and the Guns and Roses tattoo sleeve, but in one case it was the Christmas Cat that got skipped. I feel like I should double check that. Seems I may be overlooking something – like it’s actually from her shop so she can’t heart it. That did come up for someone else, but I caught it.

Anyway, I launched another round of Hundred Hearts with a link to the treasury. Hopefully I’ll collect enough to be able to launch the October treasury this time. Also, hopefully, I won’t put too many people off. The treasury is supposed to be a benny for the team, not a burden.

In case anyone is wondering, I’m keeping track of everything on a spreadsheet. There’s no way I could keep it all straight otherwise.

Rat and Mouse Tails

T1069c dets I’m expanding our line of rat and mouse tails. As you see, I’ve added gray. The gray tails only come in rat sizes. They are made of the same wonderful kind of material as the pink with the super-soft squeamishness and the glittering scales. There was only enough material to make a total of seven of them. When they are gone, there will be no more.

As for the pink material, there is enough left to make half a dozen, depending on if they become mouse or rat tails. I am making them to replace what sells. Again, the fabric is limited and not replaceable.

I also have it in bright blue, but who wants a bright blue mouse tail?

Color Threads

Yes, I just launched a whole bunch of color threads in the A Promotion Commotion team. Yes, I’m up to something again.

Super Hearts in October

SuperHearts1409 The first ever Super Hearts treasury has done reasonably well, but, as I said before, I think it could do even better. I think the key is to get the whole team behind it. I’m still not sure how to accomplish that, but I think I know where to start.

I think it will have to be a rule that you have to leave a comment on the previous month’s treasury to be eligible for the current one. That is going to have to be basic. I might as well start with the current month. After all, I couldn’t do it before because there wasn’t a previous treasury. 😉 This is the perfect time.

I was originally planning to announce the few rules for the treasury at the bottom of the Hundred Hearts threads, but in the Treasured Treasuries thread I said anyone who participated there would be eligible. It went over like a lead balloon. Still, I’ll honor the offer.

I’d like to include people who are active in other parts of the team, too. I’m not active enough in most of the other threads to do a good job, though, so I’ll have to leave it to Sandra to pick people.

So… how to I portion out the treasury? I think at least half should go to people who fully participate in the Hundred Hearts threads. I’d originally planned on only putting those people into the treasury, but I want to set up rules that will allow for others.

I guess I could change them as I go. And I could still make the announcements there.

So… how about this:

1. You must comment on the previous treasury. (link to treasury)

2. You must participate in either the hundred hearts or the Treasured Treasury threads and follow all the rules in either.

3. You must not have been in the previous treasury. (Yeah,. I’m iffy about this one, but there it is. Maybe I’ll add it when I can be sure of participation. I’d still let people go every other one anyway.)

4. First-come-first serve. I’ll eliminating those who did not follow the rules until I get 16. I’ll probably start with Treasured Treasuries because that’s easy. Unless it suddenly takes off. If that’s the case, I’ll have to give half the slots to Treasured Treasuries and half to Hundred Hearts. 🙂 Anyone who does both will get preferential placement. Going the extra mile to promote the previous month’s Super Hearts should also get preferential placement. Well, we’ll see how it goes.

I’m NOT going to rotate the listings, though, because Etsy dropped the treasury in the hotness charts when I did it on the current one. We’re trying to maximize the impact, not minimize it.

Maybe I should put this in a separate announcement? I could make it a general directory thread with a title like Super Hearts and other treasuries for October. Then people could do a dump and run of their treasuries and I could also link to some of the unpinned treasury oriented threads.

Or not.

I need to make a decision soon. The next one goes into the making in 3 days, when I’m done promoting the first one. Or sooner if I make the announcement in the next round of Hundred Hearts.

The Super Hearts Treasury

SuperHearts1409

Not long after I joined the A Promotion Commotion team on Etsy last Spring, Sandra Engebose made me a team leader. I had already been keeping count for her Hundred Heart’s threads. She asked me to keep it up, and to set up new threads as they were needed. Since then I’ve done it 20 times.

I noticed early on that a lot of people didn’t bother to heart the listings I put in the threads. When one of the regulars started to convo me about all the people who weren’t favoring her listings, I thought I better do something.

First I started deleting the listings of anyone who clearly broke the rules – the ones who posted multiple listings or who never ever hearted anyone. It didn’t really fix the problem, but it sure made me feel better.

Then I got the great idea of offering to do a special promotion for those who actually followed all the rules. What a difference positive thinking makes! Suddenly I had much, much better activity from everyone!

These things can take time. From when I suggested the treasury to Sandra until I could get it made and launched was about a month. The treasury has been out for 9 days now. It’s done better than any other treasury I or Kate made. I’ll be promoting it for a full 16 days. Then I’ll be making another. Only this time, I think I can make it even better.
